Clinical Resources
The Richmar THERADOT device is an advanced therapeutic tool designed to aid in the treatment of various conditions, including muscle pain, inflammation, and swelling, by delivering gentle, non-invasive oscillations up to 8cm deep into the patient's tissue in the affected area. The device has 3 key adjustable features: Output Frequency, Output Voltage, and Output Modulation.
-
Adjustable Output Frequency Range (5-300 Hz): The output frequency range refers to the number of oscillations per second that the device can produce. A wider range allows for greater versatility in treatment, as different conditions may respond better to specific frequencies. Lower frequencies (5-50 Hz) are generally used for relaxation, reducing muscle spasms, enhanced lymphatic drainage, and promoting blood flow. Medium frequencies (50-150 Hz) can help with mobility, muscle strengthening and re-education, and movement of biological liquids and waste. Higher frequencies (150-300 Hz) may be more effective in pain management and the treatment of acute injuries, dissolving hardened tissue (including scars), reducing high muscle tone, and activating drainage pathways. (Primary competitor option adjustable up to only 250 Hz)
-
Adjustable Output Voltage (0-900V): Output voltage is the intensity of the electrical signal produced by the device. By adjusting the voltage, you can control the strength of the oscillations and tailor the treatment to the patient's needs and comfort level. Lower voltages are typically used for sensitive or superficial areas, while higher voltages may be more effective for deeper tissue or more stubborn conditions. It is essential to start at a low voltage and gradually increase it, ensuring the patient remains comfortable throughout the treatment. (Primary competitor option adjustable up to only 400V)
- Adjustable Output Modulation: In practical terms, the on/off ratio refers to the proportion of time that the device delivers oscillations (the "on" phase) compared to the time it's inactive (the "off" phase) during a treatment cycle. By adjusting the on/off ratio, a practitioner can control the duty cycle and the intensity of the therapy, which can be helpful in targeting specific conditions or accommodating patient preferences, further enhancing the effectiveness and versatility of the THERADOT device.
Breakdown of Output Modulation Parameters:
On/Off Ratio | Active Time (sec) | Inactive Time (sec) | Treatment Intensity | Suitable Conditions & Uses |
---|---|---|---|---|
1/4 | 1 | 4 | Lowest Intensity | Highly sensitive patients or conditions requiring gentle treatment (ex. Post-surgery recovery) |
1/3 | 1 | 3 | Low Intensity | Mild to moderate sensitivity (ex. Early-stage injury rehabilitation) |
1/2 | 1 | 2 | Balanced Intensity | General treatment of various conditions (ex. Acute pain relief or muscle relaxation) |
2/3 | 2 | 3 | Moderately High Intensity | Treating stubborn issues or deeper tissues (ex. Chronic pain) |
3/4 | 3 | 4 | High Intensity | Challenging conditions; Faster recovery from intense physical activities (ex. Long-term inflammation) |
1/1 | 1 | 1 | Continuous Treatment | Wide range of conditions and patients (ex. Balanced treatment for pain & muscle re-education) |
2/1 | 2 | 1 | Higher Intensity | Chronic or deep-seated issues; More persistent muscle spasms (ex. Sciatica) |
3/1 | 3 | 1 | Even higher Intensity | More resistant conditions or patients who can tolerate stronger treatment (ex. Severe tendonitis) |
4/1 | 4 | 1 | Highest Intensity | Most challenging conditions or when maximum stimulation is desired (ex. Severe chronic pain, advanced muscle strengthening) |
